Pioneering Research with Scholarship Support
Ally Almaraz, a materials science and engineering graduate, explored cutting-edge biosensor technology in Boise State’s Advanced Nanomaterials and Manufacturing Lab — all while preparing for graduate school and a future in research. Scholarships played a key role in her journey.
“[Scholarships have] allowed me to put more focus into my studies and incredible research opportunities,” she said.
From Boise State to the NFL
In the weeks leading up the April 2023 NFL Draft, Scott Matlock took nothing for granted. The former Boise State defensive lineman still felt excitement every time he visited an NFL team and was picked up at the airport by someone holding a sign with his name.
On April 29, a once-distant dream became reality: Matlock was drafted in the sixth round, the 200th overall pick, by the Los Angeles Chargers.
Longtime Donors Pay it Forward
For more than 25 years, Glen Walker and Caile Spear have shown their steadfast commitment to Boise State students. As Chaffee Guild members recognized for their leadership-level giving, they continue to provide critical financial support to students pursuing their educational goals.
Their generosity reflects a deep understanding of the challenges students face and a shared belief in the power of education to transform lives.
How Endowing Faculty Positions Boosts Boise State
Boise State has aspirations — for its students, faculty and the communities it serves. That’s why it prioritizes private support of endowed faculty.
Endowments are investments that yield extra income for instructors and scholars, usually named after donors or their loved ones. They supplement salaries, fund research projects, equip laboratories, pay for travel and other expenses, and hire graduate students.
